VISA
From September 1, 2013, German citizens can visit Mongolia without a visa for 30 days. For German nationals, you can extend your travel visa once during your stay in Mongolia for a 30-day extension. Visas can be easily extended and must be renewed upon arrival. In most other cases, you will need to obtain a permit. For more information on visas, please contact the Mongolian Embassy in your country. Other countries not mentioned above should contact the Mongolian embassy in their respective countries or regions.
Registration
For stays of more than 30 days, foreigners must register with Immigration within one week and deregister before leaving in order to obtain an exit visa.
Requirements for Customs Special
Foreign currencies may be imported indefinitely, but they must be declared if they are more than €4500 or $5000.
During the departure, there are strict checks for antiques, valuable minerals, paleontological finds, metals, and hunting trophies. Hunters may use their personal hunting weapons, including ammunition.
- Swiss and Austrian citizens are exempt from the tourist visa for up to 30 days in the years 2023–2025.
- Citizens of the Republic of Korea, Singapore, Vietnam, and the Kingdom of Thailand are permitted to travel without a visa for a maximum of 30 days, whereas those of Hong Kong are only permitted to travel for a maximum of 14 days.
Nationals of the following countries traveling to Mongolia for up to 30 days for tourist purposes are temporarily exempt from the visa requirement until the end of 2025.
